‘The Voice’ Recap: Alicia Keys's and Blake Shelton’s Teams Get Cut in Half
On the first night of live playoffs on The Voice, American viewers finally had their voices heard, or at least half of America did, as the live voting left the West Coast just pretending to play along. But at least they still got to enjoy some great performances, like when TSoul knocked it out of the park with “Knock on Wood.”
Even after a great performance, TSoul had to sweat it out as America chose to save Lauren Duski and Aliyah Moulden from Blake Shelton‘s team. Which meant it came down to Blake’s decision for the final spot. Blake said, “There is no good way to do this. So I’m just going to say the person that I am moving forward is my man, TSoul.”
With Blake’s team settled, it was time for Team Alicia to take the stage. Chris Blue got things started on a high note with “Love on the Brain” by Rihanna. America got behind his performance and voted to save Chris. They also saved Vanessa Ferguson, who continued to “lean on” the rest of the competition with another solid performance.
So with one spot remaining, it came down to Alicia Keys choosing who she wanted to save. Following a performance of “Every Breath You Take,” Stephanie Rice was holding her breath until Alicia said, “The person that I choose is Stephanie.”
Now it’s on to Team Adam and Team Gwen to fill out the last six spots in the top 12.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
