Stephen Colbert Defends ‘Colbert Report’ Against Charges of Racism
Stephen Colbert spent the first half of Monday’s edition of “The Colbert Report” defending the show from accusations of racism.
The criticism of the show stems from a bit last week in which Colbert’s faux conservative commentator riffed on critics of Washington Redskins football team for using a moniker that is considered offensive by many Native Americans. A tweet quoting a line from his segment about the launch of “the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity for Orientals or Whatever” set off a firestorm.
Here’s Colbert’s defense against the Internet-fueled campaign to “cancel Colbert.”
