John Oliver Makes Commercial to Caution Trump About Publicly Supporting Bill O’Reilly
On Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver made yet another “Catheter Cowboy” commercial. This time the cowboy urged President Trump to think before publicly supporting his friend Bill O’Reilly, who is currently being investigated for sexual harassment.
The New York Times has reported that Fox News and O’Reilly have paid five women $13 million in sexual harassment settlements in the past 15 years. Oliver doesn’t think it’s right for the POTUS to publicly support his friend, given the allegations. But Trump continues to back O’Reilly, saying recently, “I don’t think Bill would do anything wrong.”
The cowboy appears to speak directly to Trump, saying, “If you have a friend accused of something like that over and over again, I might think twice about defending him. That contributes to a culture where women don’t want to come forward.” Oliver is hoping to air the commercial during The O’Reilly Factor in the New York and Washington, D.C., markets. So far he has not heard back from the Fox News sales team.
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver airs Sundays at 11 p.m. on HBO.
