‘iZombie’ Creator Rob Thomas Previews ‘Complete Reboot’ in Season 3 Finale
The zombie apocalypse is nigh!
In Tuesday night’s Season 3 finale of iZombie, the secret of zombies’ existence threatens to spill out into the world at large, as Liv (Rose McIver) continues to investigate the origins of the deadly Aleutian flu outbreak in Seattle.
Will the Aleutian flu turn everybody into zombies? And how is Fillmore Graves, the zombie private military outfit, involved?
Last week’s episode ended with a bang, literally, as a house full of Fillmore Graves soldiers died in a bombing by a crazed zombie truther. But don’t expect COO Chase Graves (Jason Dohring) to go on the warpath against humans, creator Rob Thomas tells Yahoo TV.
“Chase can’t start just killing humans willy nilly in the streets of Seattle, so he isn’t going to start an all-out war,” Thomas explains. “He isn’t even quite sure who Harley is acting in conjunction with.”
But with more humans learning about zombies, and the zombies riled up and defensive, something will have to give. That’s exactly what Thomas had in mind as he and the writers approached this finale.
“We wanted to have a complete reboot. That’s what we’ve been gearing toward,” he says.
“We’ve known that we wanted to get to this day where zombies became an open secret, that people became aware of zombies living among them. And suddenly, there would zombie clubs and a zombie district. Then, we would have to reinvent things. So we’ve been aiming for this day.”
In other words: Get ready for Z-Day!
iZombie airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
