'Golden Globes': Snubs, Surprises, and Fearless Predictions
The Golden Globes nominations were announced this morning and brought with them the usual mix of glorious surprises (Outlander!) and eye-opening snubs (Kevin Spacey?). In these videos, Yahoo TV’s Editor in Chief, Kristen Baldwin, and Critic-at-Large, Ken Tucker, walk through the nominees that made us go “Woah!” and the absences that made us say, “Huh?” One of the biggest surprises was Lady Gaga’s best actress nod for American Horror Story: Hotel, a vote of confidence for the pop star in her first big acting role. On the other hand, Globes voters declined to honor actor Terrence Howard for playing a music mogul on TV’s most successful series, Empire.
After breaking down who made — and who missed — the cut, our resident experts turned their attention to predicting the winners in various categories. Watch the video below to see their picks for Best Drama and Best Comedy series, and whether they think Jon Hamm will repeat his Emmy victory for the final season of Mad Men or if that statue will go to a surprise newbie — maybe Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek? — instead.
