‘Fate of the Furious’ Star Charlize Theron on Why She Won’t Use Dating Apps
Fate of the Furious star Charlize Theron is looking for a man, and who better to help her than Chelsea Handler and the Internet? On Ellen on Wednesday, Theron, who is single, explained that she was with Handler at the Women’s March in Park City, after which Handler brought a dating app for celebrities to her attention and showed her how to use it.
After learning the ins and outs of the app, Theron had a couple of problems with it. The first being that you have to swipe right or left depending on whether or not you like the person, and Theron is pretty sure people can see when you don’t like them. Her other issue was what happens if you do like someone.
“Then you have to text them. And then the flirting starts, and it’s kind of awkward because you don’t know the person, and they’re trying to be cute and they say weird things like ‘What’s up, sexy?’ And it’s just awkward.”
Theron also worries what might happen if she were to not like another celebrity on the app, then run into that person at some sort of event. And something else to consider: It could influence someone’s decision about whether or not to do a given project with her.
So it sounds as though digital dating just isn’t for Theron, but she wishes Handler the best of luck.
“I hope she finds the man of her dreams. Or men of her dreams, knowing Chelsea,” Theron joked.
