Ellen Tries to Stop Her Retweet Record From Being Broken by a Nugget Loving Kid
Ellen currently holds the record for most retweets on Twitter, for her 2014 Oscar selfie photo. That record is now in jeopardy due to 16-year-old Carter Wilkerson. The Nevada teen recently tweeted at Wendy’s, asking, “How many retweets for a year of free chicken nuggets?” The fast food chain responded via twitter, saying, “18 Million.” Wilkerson accepted the challenge, replying, “Consider it done.”
The teen quickly racked up 2.6 million retweets, including one from Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul, making Ellen very nervous. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the host proposed a solution that would let her keep her record and let Wilkerson get his nuggets. “I challenge everyone who retweets Carter’s tweet to also retweet my Oscars selfie,” Ellen said. “That way, I retain my title and he can reach his goal.” She even sweetened the deal by offering Wilkerson a year’s supply of Ellen underwear, and a free TV, if he lets her ride his coattails.
