Motorola Razr Plus (2024), or the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra if you live outside the U.S., is the successor to last year's Motorola Razr Plus. The 2023 model shook up the world of foldables and proved to be one of the best foldable phones around at the time. The Razr Plus 2024 seems to have taken everything Motorola learned from last year, and turned the dial up to 11.
While the phone is still awaiting the promised AI features, Motorola has kept that momentum going for another year. More than enough to give the upgraded Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 a run for its money. Not only does the new phone have a bigger and better cover display, it's also had some substantial upgrades to the camera and battery.
Here's everything you need to know about the Motorola Razr Plus (2024).
Motorola Razr Plus 2024 Specs
Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Price and release date
Despite a slew of price hikes in recent years, Motorola is not changing the price of the Razr Plus 2024. That means you'll pay the same $999 / £999 / AU$1,699 as last year's model. That's definitely a relief, especially since foldable phones are already more expensive than their non-folding counterparts.
There's only the one model on sale this year, complete with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage space. Color options this year include Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Peach Fuzz, Hot Pink. However choice may be different dependent on the retailer/carrier and region.
Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Design
Motorola gave the 2023 Razr a design we described as “gorgeous”, so it’s unsurprising that Motorola has kept design changes to a minimum this time round. You have the same contoured edges, a number of striking colors and a large cover screen enveloping two camera lenses.
In fact it's hard to tell the difference between both devices when they're side by side, though there are some key differences. To start with the 2024 model is slightly larger, measuring 6.74 x 2.91 x 0.27 inches when unfolded and 3.46 x 2.91 x 0.60 inches in a folded state. It's also a little heavier at 6.66 ounces.
You are more likely to spot the Razr Plus 2024 is made from vegan leather and has a larger 4-inch cover display. It's also more durable, thanks to the Gorilla Glass Victus cover display and an IPX8 water resistance rating.
To top it off the hinge is now 30% smaller, which also helps to minimize the crease on the interior display.
Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Performance
In terms of core specs, it sounds like the Razr Plus 2024 features a few key upgrades. The handset will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 backed by 12GB RAM — a solid improvement on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 8GB combo found in the previous model.
Needless to say there's been a huge jump from one generation to the next. While the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 was no slouch, it's being outpaced by the 8s Gen 3 at every turn.
Geekbench 5's single core results came out at 1,834 and 4,848 on the multi-core test. That's compared to 1,320 and 4,134 on the Razr Plus 2023. 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited also came out 8 frames per second faster on the Motorola Razr plus 2024. While that doesn't seem like such a huge leap, it does mean the new phone should be able to offer a much faster and smoother experience during high-performance operations like gaming.
Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Cameras
Perhaps the biggest upgrade is coming for the camera system. Last year’s model featured a pretty solid dual-camera array with a 12MP main sensor supported by a 13MP ultra-wide lens (which could also take macro shots).
The 2024 version packs in dual 50MP snappers — but more importantly, the ultra-wide lens has been replaced by a telephoto lens with optical zoom. That sounds far more useful than an ultra-wide lens, and the bump in megapixels should allow for plenty more detail too.
Following in the footsteps of Google and Samsung, the Razr Plus 2024 features “integrated AI-powered photo/video capture and AI editing tools”. However these tools are limited to image editing and support for Google's Gemini Nano chatbot.
The front-facing camera remains unchanged. But given it was already a decent 32MP snapper, that’s unlikely to prove too disappointing — especially as the clamshell design means you can use the superior external cameras for selfies easily enough.
Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Battery life and charging
This year the Razr Plus offers a much larger 4,000 mAh battery. Combined with the more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it means we've got huge leap to the battery leap. Not only is this year's battery 200 mAh larger than last year, it also over 4 hours longer.
The 2023 model's 10 hours and 9 minutes of battery life wasn't terrible, though it could have been better. However the leap to 14 hours and 13 minutes on the Razr Plus 2024 means it's earned itself a spot on our best phone battery life page — but only just.
The upgrades have also made their way to the charging sector as well. The Razr Plus offers up to 40W charging speeds with Motorola's TurboPower charger, which is up from 30W last year. Wireless charging has also risen from 5W to 15W, while 5W reverse wireless charging has made its debut.
Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Outlook
The 2023 Razr Plus deservedly won kudos for getting the foldable phone design right; so far the 2024 version looks like a solid improvement across the board.
With snappier performance and, more importantly, a vastly improved camera, there’s plenty to be excited about. All while keeping its current $999 pricing sweet spot, Motorola may well have a hit on its hands.

We've yet to send the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 to our lab, which means we haven't been able to thoroughly test the battery life yet. However this year the Razr Plus offers a much larger 4,000 mAh battery. Combined with the more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, we hope will offer a boost to the 2023 model's 10 hours and 9 minutes of battery life.
The upgrades have also made their way to the charging sector as well. The Razr Plus offers up to 40W charging speeds with Motorola's TurboPower charger, which is up from 30W last year. Wireless charging has also risen from 5W to 15W, while 5W reverse wireless charging has made its debut.
