The best streaming platforms are the go-to, on-demand method for watching seemingly endless video content for a low (but hopefully even lower) monthly subscription. Each streamer brings its own original content, like live sports or even live TV, all with or without ads (but you usually have to pay more for that). With free weekly and monthly trials, you can explore many streaming services to get a good taste and hop off and on to the next one with ease. Here are what the top streamers are offering in terms of monthly or yearly subscriptions or bundles, and deals, especially around Black Friday and the holiday shopping season.
NOTE: We're days away from Black Friday deals popping off, so the savings might not be there right now, but check back in a few to save some serious cash.
Hulu
Hulu has expanded its library and features greatly since it debuted in 2007. The service offers a standard, stand alone subscription for $9.99/month with ads with loads of originals, movies, and shows. That’s just the beginning. You can select a no ad feature for $18.99/month, or for $59.99 you get live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+. That’s not all, you can select a Hulu/Disney+ bundle with ads ($10.99/month), a Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle ($16.99/month), or a Hulu/Disney+/Max bundle ($16.99/month). There are eight Hulu bundle options to explore, which is the most. It’s why our senior analyst, , praised the app in his , saying, “Hulu is an excellent choice for its combination of on-demand content and live TV.”
Max
In addition to the aforementioned bundle of Max/Hulu/Disney+ for $16.99/month (with ads), Max offers a simpler stand alone service ($9.99/month) and a tiered monthly ($9.99-20.99) or yearly payment ($99.99-$209.99) option for their bundles. Keep in mind the prices will vary if you want to have ads or not (yes, every streaming service offers ads or no ads at a higher cost). There’s also a 50% off special discount for students. The thing that sets Max apart is its premium content. It’s the only place to stream TV classics like The Wire, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, and current TV hits like The Penguin, House of the Dragon, and Hacks. When you throw in live sports, CNN, and Discovery programming, it’s why and gave it an "Excellent" rating in , praising the service’s deep library of content.
Peacock
The NBC Universal streaming service stands out as it offers one of the lowest priced subscriptions starting at $7.99/month with ads. You can go ad-free for nearly double the price, $13.99/month while yearly plans are priced out for 10 months—meaning you can save, yay! Peacock is the home to NBC’s classic sitcoms like The Office, and other favorites like Yellowstone (which is inexplicably also available on Paramount+). Peacock also has a slew of live sports, including Premier League, Big Ten Football and exclusive rights to WWE’s live events. That’s why we gave it the Editors' Choice award in where and touted Peacock's “substantive library and support for HD content."
Paramount+
In terms of bundles and offers, Paramount+ has the least, but that doesn’t mean it has less content! You can enjoy Paramount with ads for $7.99/month or $59.99/year. This offer features some live sports, like NFL and UEFA Champions League. The only other option is a Paramount+ bundle with Showtime for $12.99/month or $119.99/year. This offers an ad-free option (except for live TV), and everything under the Showtime banner including hit series like Dexter, Ray Donovan, The L Word, and so much more. The key to Paramount+ is its lack of top tier programming option. As and said in , the app, “Offers popular original shows and live sports at a reasonable price, but you must pay for its most expensive tier to enjoy the best features.” Finally, Paramount+ will be the streaming home of the Super Bowl until 2028 and possibly beyond that.
ESPN+
When cord cutters were jumping ship in the early 2010s, established cable networks like ESPN were stuck because they thrived on having exclusive rights to broadcast live sports on their channels. To become a streaming service, ESPN had to reinvent the wheel for themselves. While ESPN+ offers many exclusive sports, notably College Football, F1, and UFC, it doesn’t stream the sports they don’t currently have a contract with so that includes (as of this writing) NASCAR, NBA, and most NFL games, just to name a few. While the streaming quality is outstanding, ESPN+ does have originals like 30 For 30, but overall it lacks the the flagship programming you want like SportsCenter, according to our experts and said in . At it's usual price of $11.99/month, or $119.99/year, it’s a better deal to get this service bundled with Hulu or Disney+ instead on its own.

Disney+
My kids second favorite streaming platform is also one that offers a variety of plans. Like Hulu, Disney+, offers the bundles mentioned previously and more. You can buy a duo option of Disney+& Hulu for $10.99/month or a duo of Max & Disney+ for $19.99/month, both with ad-free options, a trio bundle of those three platforms all together, or a trio of Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ with ad-free options. Either way you’re looking at a range of $11-$27/month. And you get Disney+ on its own for $9.99, but it’s better in a bundle. The key to Disney+ is its vast library of Disney films and series, animated and live action. Our analysts and gave it an "Excellent" rating in, praising the service’s “vast entertainment catalog.” Disney+ is loaded with hours of entertainment from Marvel, Star Wars, the current Doctor Who series. When you throw new exclusive films like The Taylor Swift Eras Tour, Hamilton, The Beatles: Get Back, and a slew of new original series like The Mandalorian, Disney+ is a top level streaming platform.
