We've Reached Peak Mermaid With These New Scaly Tights

Women typically do everything they can to avoid having scaly skin — but one Etsy seller is banking on the opposite.

Mashable recently made us aware of Germany-based designer Daniel Struzyna, who creates tights covered in shimmery, mermaid-like scales. Each pair of the $70-plus stockings is handmade to order, using flexible, three-dimensional silicone — and every single review of the of the mythical product, which may resemble Ariel’s legs mid-transition, boasts five stars.

It’s perfect timing, as mermaids have been enjoying quite a moment lately, what with the (relative) popularity of swimmable mermaid tails, mermaid fitness classes, mermaid academies, the recent celebrity-filled live-action Little Mermaid performance in L.A., and of course, mermaid birthday parties — a favorite of unquestionable #coolkids North West and Penelope Disick.

As for Struzyna’s Little Mermaid-esque leg coverings? They seem to be favored mostly by cosplayers — but we can totally see them catching on with a larger audience. Katy Perry could definitely work a sparkly pair on stage, and there’s no question that those famous tots would go nuts over some child-size mer-tights.
