The Victoria's Secret Swim Special Was All Bikinis, Beaches & Babes

“Looking great on the beach is all about confidence,” Alessandra Ambrosio said.
The band gave the girls an exclusive concert on the beach with bonfires. Swanepoel was rocking out. “I grew up as a little kid watching Maroon 5 and now I’m with my best friends watching a private show,” she said.
It’s Candice Swanepoel and Alessandra Ambrosio versus Behati Prinsloo and Lily Aldridge in the battle of the beach babes.
Maroon 5 put on a private concert for the models playing two of their songs. Adam Levine was completely flustered by the women dancing to the music in their bikinis that he even flubbed the lyrics to the band’s hit “Animals.”
On Coco Beach, she called the setting the perfect for an Instagram picture and “so epic and legendary."
“Getting the cover of the swim is the equivalent of closing the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” Ambrosio said.
Candice Swanepoel admitted that there’s something about the elements that makes her feel sexy. “I like to live in my bikini,” she admitted. “It’s almost like I’m wearing nothing.” The rocks at the waterfall were slippery but she said that she likes and makes her feel challenged.
The Swedish model grew up playing basketball and she credits her athleticism with being able to model so well.
"Once you start working with Victoria’s Secret, it becomes part of your lifestyle to stay fit,” Swanepoel said. Because the models are in their swimsuits and lingerie in front of the camera for their job, the Angel says it’s important that she feels comfortable and confident within her own skin.
A stylist gives the Angel perfectly appropriate tousled beach waves — and Aldridge seems to love it. The girls had a 5 AM call time each morning for hair and makeup before heading straight to the beach.
“It’s very Top Gun,” Behati said. The pair, who admit they might have taken the game a little too seriously, took home the trophy.

Behati Prinsloo likes to see the culture of the location when she travels. She went to the Old Town of San Juan with Joan Smalls who was born and raised on the island and gave her a local tour in a convertible. The pair even danced together on the streets. “Part of our culture is to be vibrant and have fun and whatever we stumble upon is full of nice surprises.” Smalls said. “To show her one of the traditional dances of Puerto Rico is actually really special,” Smalls said. She even admitted that Behati is a really good dancer was able to keep up with the experts!
The mark of a true professional model is one that can be doused in water and still hold the camera’s eye. “I’m very critical when it comes to looking at my pictures,” Swanepoel said. “When I look at the pictures it’s not really as me. It’s like I’m in the third person. That’s why I’m able to turn into a vixen.”
“Nature is definitel something that calms me down and it’s where I recharge,” Adriana Lima said.
Photographer Russell James explained that the whole idea of including the animals was to evoke intimacy and a close connection. But that didn’t come right off the bat. Adriana Lima and Joan Smalls were both hesitant to hang with the equines. Lima said: “I think we were more nervous than the horses for sure!"
