Mike Pence and Paul Ryan Twinned at Trump’s Speech, and Twitter Loved It: 'Bobbsey Twins'
When President Trump made his first joint address to Congress on Tuesday night, he stood flanked by his vice president, Mike Pence, and the speaker of the House, Paul Ryan.
And Twitter couldn’t help but notice that Pence and Ryan seemed to be twinning in nearly identical suits and bold blue ties.

Pence and Ryan are twinsies

And of course, many were quick to compare the two to the On-Wednesdays-we-wear-pink kinds of rules employed by high school queen bees everywhere:
Pence and Ryan are those girls in school who call each other the night before to plan their outfits. #Jointsession

Tuesday is "blue dimpled tie, grey suit, and flag pin" day on Pence's and Ryan's BFF coordinated outfit calendar.

Did Pence and Ryan coordinate their ties? So cute! ???? #JointSession

Did Pence & Ryan have a bro day shopping for their matching ties? #TrumpAddress ????????????????

And some saw flight attendants:
Why do Mike Pence and Paul Ryan like like a couple of @JetBlue flight attendants? #JointAddress pic.twitter.com/kZpO7pfyDo
— Malcolm Kates (@SkycutPrez) March 1, 2017
@NBCNews @MSNBC Pence looks like the lead flight attendant, assigned to 1st class–Ryan, the young upstart, slingin' pretzels in economy.
— Jagaloon (@Jaegaloon) March 1, 2017
Pence and Ryan are dressed like flight attendants for the same airline.
— Karen Tumulty (@ktumulty) March 1, 2017
@bomani_jones Pence and Ryan look like they are flight attendants for Air Trump
— NBA Outsider (@OutsideStats) March 1, 2017
Some saw strength and a nod to unity:
Loving the matching ties from Pence and Ryan. Strong.
— Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) March 1, 2017
I love how Trump, Pence & Ryan are wearing blue ties. Something about straying from red & repping blue symbolically shows unity & compromise
— A E V (@vandives) March 1, 2017
While others saw, well, something less hopeful:
Mike Pence and Paul Ryan hate diversity so much they wore the same suit and tie. That's principled conservatism. #JointAddress
— The Phantom Nebbish (@ItsRainingMeh) March 1, 2017
No I'm not going to say how Paul Ryan and Mike Pence next to one another looks like the lamest, whitest before/after ever. #JointAddress
— The Phantom Nebbish (@ItsRainingMeh) March 1, 2017
Did Mike Pence and Paul Ryan call one another to coordinate their outfits or just the usual call on how to outlaw difference? #JointAddress
— The Phantom Nebbish (@ItsRainingMeh) March 1, 2017
Pence and Ryan look a little like boys in prep school wearing the exact same uniform.
Except their final exam is to make people miserable.
— emptywheel (@emptywheel) March 1, 2017
Somehow seeing both Pence & Ryan in those blue ties reminds me of #MenInBlack. Who's the alien?
I do like them though. #JointAddress— Jim St. Leger (@JimStLeger) March 1, 2017
Paul Ryan and Mike Pence, basically. #JointAddress pic.twitter.com/npjrRd9bOG

While this tweeter summed things up nicely:
I know I should be tweeting about more meaningful things but Paul Ryan & Mike Pence's matching ties are too damn distracting for me to think
