Lena Dunham , Alexa Chung, and Natasha Lyonne Lip-Sync for Women’s Rights
Lena Dunham, Petra Collins, Tavi Gevinson, India Menuez, Alexa Chung, Anna Fitzpatrick, Natasha Lyonne, and a slew of other power girls are singing for change. Together they’ve created a lip-syncing mash-up to Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” to advocate for women’s rights and to remind all ladies to vote in the Nov. 4 midterm elections.
In between singing, the ladies hold up different DIY style slogans like: “my body is not a battleground,” “get your rosaries of my ovaries,” and perhaps the most compelling, “when women vote women win.” This intimate production ends with a heartfelt plea from the original songwriter. Gore announces: “Ladies, we got to come together, get out there and vote, and protect our bodies. They’re ours. Please vote.” Message received indeed.
