Lara Trump Says She’s on #TeamIvanka With Tank Top
Making a political style statement has become quite customary given current political tensions in the United States. Retailers remain divided on the Ivanka Trump label, as many brands have dropped the clothing and accessories brand from stores — while others are not taking a stance.
One staunch supporter of the Ivanka Trump business? Lara Trump — the wife of Eric Trump, Ivanka’s brother. The first daughter-in-law recently posted a selfie on her Instagram channel wearing a black tank emblazoned with the phrase “We got this. #TeamIvanka”.

She captioned the image, “#TeamIvanka.” The post comes as large retailers, including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Burlington Coat Factory, are dropping the Ivanka Trump label. This has led to public outcry from Trump supporters and praise from supporters of the #GrabYourWallet movement, which calls for people nationwide to quit buying all Trump products.
Members of the Hollywood set have weighed in as well, with some encouraging their followers on social media to shop at Nordstrom now that the retailer has dropped the label. This past weekend, Sears and Kmart dropped the Trump Home products line from their online stores, due to poor sales performance, in the latest update.
The controversy has led members of the Trump family to speak out, including Lara with her recent post featuring her #TeamIvanka tank and even President Trump himself. On Feb. 2, the president tweeted, “My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!” A few days later, as more retailers moved to drop the Ivanka Trump label, the president spoke out again. “I am so proud of my daughter Ivanka. To be abused and treated so badly by the media, and to still hold her head so high, is truly wonderful!” he posted.
Another member within the Trump administration to weigh in? Kellyanne Conway. The counselor to the president spoke with Fox & Friends from the White House on Feb. 9 and directed viewers to buy the Ivanka Trump label. “Go buy Ivanka’s stuff is what I would tell you. I hate shopping; I’m gonna go get some myself today,” she said. “It’s a wonderful line. I own some of it,” she continued. “I’m going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody.”
The plug was met with criticism across the nation, as many believed her action was unethical and a serious conflict of interest. Some lawmakers and public officials even suggested that it was a possible legal flub, potentially violating the law that prohibits federal employees from the endorsement of any product.
Unlike Conway, Lara Trump’s show of support was actually met with praise on social media. Many users took to the comments to ask where the shirt was from. “Right on! You all are the truly ones that have class! Where can I purchase that T-shirt from?” user Lori Arzate wrote. “I want one, and so does my daughter and my granddaughters. It’s time we stand up for the women that stand up for us,” user qm1dansmary commented.
