Kendall Jenner vs. Amber Rose: Insiders Tell Us What Happened at Coachella

When reports surfaced this weekend that Amber Rose was promptly booted from the Bootsy Bellows’ Coachella party after crashing Kendall Jenner’s table, the Internet went nuts / bananas / insert-snack-choice-here.
But what really happened? It seems, not much more than a good time.
We got the story from ASTR, an amazing indie band that played the bash, impressing everyone—including guests like Katy Perry, Fergie, and Two Chains—while Kendall, Gigi, and their crew sat front row (read: legs in the pool).
Band members Adam Pallin and Zoe Silverman walked Yahoo Style through their party experience.
The Setup: When Ronald McDonald Met Paris Hilton
“We rolled into the party in an Audi, but because it was sponsored by Chevrolet, they actually made us move it! Once we got through the gates, there was a live-action Ronald McDonald figure holding a selfie stick. People were encouraged to go up to him and take photos, so literally the first thing we see coming into this party was Paris Hilton hanging out with Ronald McDonald. It was surreal.”
The Location: A McMansion… Literally
“The party was held in a massive mansion, with a backyard, a pool, and even a meadow. But nobody was allowed inside the house; the only party areas really were outside. There was a McDonald’s food truck parked in the driveway, and a rumor that since this was a catered private event, the food was actually higher quality than ‘regular’ McDonald’s. But it was so hot that it was hard to eat more than a few fries.”

The Party Game: A Champagne Car Wash
“There was a ball pit next to the pool, and next to it was a red Chevy with bottles of champagne in it. And the whole purpose was for people to pop a bottle of champagne and pour it all over the car. It was insane.”
The Vibe: “Too Hot to Be Mean”
“It was so hot outside that during our performance, one of the power amps died out on us. We had a joke that the crowd was so hot—you know, Gigi [Hadid], Cody [Simpson], Kendall—that the equipment couldn’t handle it! The vibe early on, from 3—5 pm, as really chill and super mellow. There were the greatest vibes, because Gigi Hadid is literally the sweetest person in the world, and Cody is really nice, too… and our fans were there, which surprised us, because we’re from New York and this was definitely a Hollywood party… and it was impossible not to be happy. It was a great party and we had a really good time… It was too hot out for anyone to be mean, anyway.”
The Clash: Did Kendall Meet Amber?
“Amber Rose was definitely at this party, but not [near] us. When we were in the [meadow] outside with [Gigi, Cody, and Kendall], Amber Rose and Paris Hilton were outside in the driveway taking selfies together. As we left the party, we had to drive around them!… I don’t think she was ever in the same place as Kendall. We didn’t see her, anyway.”
After the Concert: Chaos
“As it got later, the party got a bit much. We’re a band from New York, and this party was the epitome of Hollywood, crystallized. It was very funny to see the Hollywood scene in action… but the vibe stopped being really chill and got hectic and darker. Any place with too many celebrities seems to turn into chaos. So we said thank you, and got out of there.”
