Marlon Harbin leads St. Xavier to win; Connor Hodge delivers for Christian Academy; more
Connor Hodge passed for 234 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed for a score to lead the host Christian Academy football team to a 35-7 victory over Heritage Hills (Indiana) on Friday.
Hodge completed 18 of 28 passes and also rushed for 55 yards on eight carries.
Trey Cotton was the top receiver with six catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Ja’Hyde Brown and Micah Akin also had touchdown catches.
Heritage Hills (1-1) was the Class 3A state runner-up in Indiana last year. CAL (2-0) has won two straight Class 3A championships in Kentucky.
St. Xavier 37, Central 7
Marlon Harbin rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns to lead the host Tigers (2-0) over the Yellowjackets (0-2).
Harbin scored on runs of 61 and 48 yards, both coming in the third quarter.
St. X quarterback Mason Trimble completed 9 of 13 passes for 139 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown pass to Manny Gray.
Thomas Andriole and Cooper Yates added touchdown runs for the Tigers.
Central’s Justin Brents rushed for 102 yards on 18 carries.
North Oldham 54, DeSales 23
Lucas Tompkins scored three touchdowns — two rushing and one receiving — to lead the host Mustangs (2-0) over the Colts (1-1).
North Oldham rolled up 287 rushing yards, led by Ronin Renton (90 yards, one touchdown) and Zachary Mortenson (68 yards).
Gray Schmittel threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Tompkins to give North Oldham a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. Schmittel also had a 22-yard touchdown reception.
Spencer County 24, Collins 21
Jackson Brown’s 33-yard field goal in the final seconds lifted the host Bears (2-0) over the Titans (1-1).
Spencer County rolled up 300 rushing yards and was led by Brody Phelps (127 yards) and Danny Armstrong (115 yards). Both had touchdown runs.
Collins quarterback Kade Goodin completed 16 of 33 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 73 yards and a score.
Goodin’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Aviyan Delaney late in the third quarter tied the score at 21.
Fern Creek 60, Fairdale 6
K.P. Passmore passed for 195 yards and four touchdowns to lead the host Tigers (1-1) over the Bulldogs (0-2).
Passmore completed 8 of 12 passes and threw touchdown passes to Patrick Carr (two), T.J. Cothron and Erik Pickett.
Pickett led the receivers with three catches for 82 yards. The Tigers rolled up 431 yards of offense, including 194 on the ground. A.J. Jackson carried six times for 102 yards.
Fairdale’s Jarel Butler passed for 117 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown pass to Kwame Anderson.
