Watch live: Pacific Palisades fire burns nearly 3,000 acres in Los Angeles amid extreme winds

A bush fire has spread at least 2,921 acres in Los Angeles and forced the evacuation of thousands of people on Tuesday as the flames were fueled by a severe wind storm pummeling Southern California.
A mandatory evacuation order was issued in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood due to life-threatening conditions between Piedra Morada Drive and the Pacific Coast Highway. The Los Angeles Fire Department also wrote that multiple homes are under immediate threat
The Palisades Fire was reported around 11 a.m. local time and has quickly spread through the afternoon. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation but experts are crediting brutal Santa Ana winds, low humidity and critically dry fuels for its strength, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
"By no stretch of the imagination are we out of the woods," Gov. Gavin Newsom said at a press conference around 4 p.m. "I saw firsthand the impact of these swirling winds and the embers and the number of structures that are destroyed. Not a few, many structures already destroyed."
The most intense winds from the storm are set to peak between 10 p.m. Tuesday night through 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to LA Fire Department Chief Kristin M. Crowley. He warned that more than 10,000 structures and over 13,000 households are threatened as officials emphasize the need to evacuate.
