Video shows wind from Alabama thunderstorm send large inflatable slide airborne: Watch

The scary moment when strong winds swept away an inflatable slide during a severe thunderstorm in Alabama and made it airborne was captured on video.

In the video, you see adults running towards the camera. One of the adults, a woman, holds a child as she runs, and a man dodges what looks like a plastic stool the wind dragged across the concrete.

Moments later, a huge rainbow blow-up slide, popular at children's birthday parties and outdoor events, tumbled through the field where an event was being held.

"Oh my goodness," a man is heard saying in the background while others behind the camera scream in surprise.

The slide flies over a truck and building before it travels out of the frame, and the recording ends.

Plastic tables, a basketball hoop and more are scattered on the floor.

When did it happen?

The event took place on Saturday, August 17, in Hillsboro, Alabama, which is in the northern part of the state, according to Storyful, who provided the video to USA TODAY.

No children were on the slide when it went airborne

No one was on the slide when it went airborne. The children playing on it were removed just two minutes before it was swept into the air, said Joshua Cofield, who recorded the video.

A tent at the event also collapsed on top of attendees, reported Fox Weather. However, Cofield, who was at the event with his family, told the outlet people under the tent received scrapes but were able to get out.
