Venezuelan man wanted for attempted murder arrested at Peace Bridge
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Venezuelan man wanted out of Colorado for attempted murder was arrested Saturday at the Peace Bridge border crossing in Buffalo, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced.
Jose Manuel Salas-Gimenez, 27, was refused entry to Canada. He was found to be wanted by the City of Aurora Police Department for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, CBP said.
Salas-Gimenez was then taken into custody and to a different area for further investigation, before officers verified his identity and confirmed the active felony warrants.
He was processed by officers and turned over to the Buffalo Police Department, CBP said, and is currently being held by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office as a fugitive from justice. He is awaiting extradition.
