Tonawanda man accused of killing another man with machete
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Tonawanda man has been indicted on a murder charge, accused of killing another man with a machete in 2023, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Adalberto Bermudez, Jr., 46, is accused of killing 39-year-old Jose Barreto-Gonzalez by hitting him several times with a machete inside of the victim’s apartment on Isabelle Street on Sept. 23, 2023. Bermudez was not arrested until Nov. 9, over a year following the alleged killing.
Bermudez is charged with second-degree murder. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
He returns to court on Dec. 23.
