SpaceX postpones Wednesday night launch attempt as towering clouds shroud Cape Canaveral

It was supposed to be another SpaceX launch day — but the Space Force's 45th Weather Squadron's prediction of a 95% chance of cloudy, rainy weather disrupting the launch window proved prophetic.

SpaceX has postponed today's attempt to launch a Falcon 9 on the Starlink 10-2 mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

New target time: 4:46 p.m. EDT Thursday. Backup opportunities will be available until 6:40 p.m.

The 45th Weather Squadron had warned that anvil clouds, cumulus clouds and surface electric fields could postpone today's launch attempt as "very wet and unsettled weather conditions" dominate the Cape and Florida at large.

No Central Florida sonic booms are expected during Thursday's launch. After soaring skyward along a northeasterly trajectory, the rocket's first-stage booster will target landing aboard a SpaceX drone ship out at sea 8? minutes after liftoff.
