Sheriff’s office investigating after finding dog in dumpster in Wheatfield
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Niagara County Sheriff’s office is investigating after finding an abandoned dog in a dumpster behind a cafe on Saturday in Wheatfield.
Officials said just before 1 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of the dog in the dumpster behind Nelson’s Cafe on River Road. The dog was then retrieved and turned over to the SPCA for medical evaluation, the SPCA said in a social media post with pictures of the dog.
The dog was abandoned just after 2 a.m. by the driver(s) of a dark colored truck, officials said.
The abandonment marks the second one in the area within the past week. The Niagara SPCA asked for assistance in a social media post Wednesday to find a person who allegedly dumped a dog in a Wendy’s dumpster early that morning in the Town of Niagara.
Officials are asking anyone with information to reach out to the Niagara County SPCA Investigator Jon Bondi at (716) 731-4368 extension 316.
