Selena Gomez lands next lead movie role
Selena Gomez has landed the lead role in an upcoming Linda Ronstadt biopic.
The Only Murders in the Building star teased the role in an Instagram Stories post, where she shared an image of the cover of the musician's 2013 memoir Simple Dreams.
Grammy Award-winning singer Ronstadt is best known for her work in the rock and country industry, releasing 24 albums across her career and working with the likes of Dolly Parton, Bette Midler, Frank Zappa, and Jonny Cash.
She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, and in 2019 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside Parton and Emmylou Harris.

According to Variety, the film detailing her incredible career is currently in pre-production with Ronstadt's manager John Boylan involved in the project.
James Keach is also on board, who created the 2019 documentary about the artist, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. Further casting is yet to be announced.
It comes after the former Disney star made an appearance at this year's star-studded Golden Globes, where she was nominated for the Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series gong for her work in Only Murders in the Building.
Last year, it was announced the hit murder mystery series had been renewed for a fourth season after its wildly popular third instalment ended on a cliffhanger.

The show, also starring Martin Short and Steve Martin, follows the trio's fictional characters Mabel Mora (Gomez), Oliver Putnam (Short), and Charles Haden-Savage (Martin) as they investigate local murders for their titular podcast.
The third season saw the gang uncover Ben Glenroy's (Paul Rudd) killer, with a double murder playing out on screen as Charles' body double Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) met their untimely demise.
Only Murders in the Building is available to watch on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
