Residents, pets of Two Rivers home safely evacuate kitchen fire that caused $50K in damages
TWO RIVERS, Wis. (WFRV) – Residents, as well as their pets, of a home in Two Rivers, were able to safely evacuate after a fire had broken out in their kitchen on Wednesday.
According to the Two Rivers Fire Department, crews were sent to a home in the 2700 block of 12th Street around 12:40 p.m. on July 10 for reports of a fire.

When fire crews arrived, all of the home’s occupants, as well as their pets, had already safely evacuated. The fire was found to be in the kitchen, and authorities say that it had begun to extend into the attic.
Due to moderate fire and smoke damage to the home and its contents, the damage is estimated to be roughly $50,000, officials with the Two Rivers FD stated.
No injuries were reported and the residents are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The City of Two Rivers Fire Department would like to remind residents that working smoke detectors are essential to early notification to occupants of a fire. Smoke detectors should be checked twice a year to ensure proper operation.

The Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department, Town of Two Rivers Fire Department, Mishicot Fire and Ambulance, Two Creeks Fire Department, and Two Rivers Police Department assisted the Two Rivers FD during the incident, which is now under investigation.
