Ralph Wilson pedestrian bridge arriving on Erie Canal
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Ralph Wilson Park in Buffalo will soon be getting a pedestrian bridge more than 260 feet long and it’s arriving via boat.
The first barge carrying two sections of the bridge passed through Lockport on the Erie Canal early Tuesday morning. It is expected to arrive in Buffalo later Tuesday afternoon.
The bridge will eventually be arriving on two barges in four pieces and will stretch 266 feet.
The executive director for the Ralph Wilson Park Conservancy says today is a major milestone for the bridge, which will transform the park. New sections of the park, including the bridge, will begin opening in 2026.
