Indiana primaries – Sanders, Trump win and Cruz drops out
Indiana voters have spoken, and their solid support for GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has resulted in the surprising withdrawal of his rival Sen. Ted Cruz, who had hoped to use Indiana to blunt Trump’s seemingly relentless advance.
On the Democratic side, the Indiana primary gave the Bernie Sanders campaign renewed hopes, if not momentum, as he chalked up another victory in a close race against Hillary Clinton. She continues to hold a commanding lead over Sanders, however — she’s secured 91 percent of the delegates she needs to win the nomination, and can still win the nomination even if she loses all the remaining contests.
