Pop icon to take a break from Vegas residency for show at Modesto’s Gallo Center
Once a teen heartthrob, Donny Osmond’s six-decade career brings him back for a show at the Gallo Center in Modesto. Pat Benatar also will bring her hits to the venue. And Modesto Performing Arts will stage “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” there. These are just some of the entertainment events planned in the region for Aug. 10-16.

Pop icon Donny Osmond brings his “Direct From Vegas” show as he returns to the Gallo Center. Osmond sold out his show last season at the center and only limited tickets were available for the upcoming show. Osmond has sold more than 100 million records, received 33 gold records and has performed to millions of fans around the globe during his music career, according to the center’s website.

“Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”
Modesto Performing Arts stages the classic musical “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” at the Gallo Center. It’s the story of Belle, who discovers a castle and the beast, who actually is a prince trapped under a spell. To break the spell, he must learn to love and be loved before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose.

Gallery opening
The Stanislaus Arts Council will hold a Grand Opening Event for its new gallery in downtown Modesto. The community is invited to the open house, where there will be a meet-and-greet with the staff, different council board members throughout the day and light refreshments. A new exhibit will be on view, featuring works by the Creative Core Heartland Grant recipients.

Frankie Valli tribute

Horsemen’s club anniversary
The Turlock Horsemen’s Club will mark its 80th anniversary with a celebration that includes an American Cowboy Team Roping Association event. The clubhouse will be open for a viewing of the club’s history. There also will be a taco truck and craft vendors on site.
