These People Are Making a Living Off of Their Celebrity Resemblances
Sure, a friend might tell you that you look like your favorite celebrity from time to time, but there’s nothing like the national (and sometimes international) recognition - not to mention the paychecks - that true celebrity doppelgängers receive. While one Taylor Swift lookalike spoke about hiring a digital manager for the overwhelming recognition aimed at her social media accounts, others, like a Hillary Clinton lookalike, have found careers in their ability to mimic the appearance and mannerisms of their well-known “twins.”
Teresa Barnwell is a dead ringer for the presumptive Democratic nominee who started getting recognized for the uncanny resemblance back when Bill Clinton became president in 1993. It became so intense that she quit her job in advertising to pursue a full-time career in impersonating the first lady. The gig has taken her to major events, talk shows, and photo shoots around the world, but no time has been as exciting for Barnwell as this current presidential race: The 61-year-old California native is making $10,000 or more for her monthly bookings, according to the Daily Mail, as well as experiencing some strange fan encounters.
While the job is certainly fun, Barnwell is aware of how freaky the coincidence can be. “Once it felt like she was following me, wherever I went Hillary would be heading to shortly after - it became quite tricky, as I think she’d find it a little creepy seeing her doppelgänger in real life.”
And she’s not alone in her experience, of course. Here are some of the most uncanny celebrity lookalikes out there.
