Pedestrian hit near Highmark Stadium, North Tonawanda man charged
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and a man has been charged in a hit-and-run near Highmark Stadium Sunday night, according to Orchard Park police.
The pedestrian was hit on Abbott Road following the Bills game. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Anthony Mayo of North Tonawanda, hit the pedestrian with a grey Dodge pickup truck. Mayo is accused of fleeing when police tried to stop him, but got stuck in traffic and was taken into custody.
The victim, a 39-year-old man from Rochester, was transported to ECMC and is listed in stable condition.
Mayo is charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, and other vehicle and traffic violations. He was arraigned after refusing a breath test. He was released on his own recognizance.
