I-90 reopens for passenger, commercial traffic | Travel restrictions, parking bans & more
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The I-90 reopened to passenger traffic heading westbound from Exit 57 to the Pennsylvania state line late Saturday afternoon.
The ban on commercial vehicles from Exit 46 (outside of Rochester) to the Pennsylvania state line in both directions is set to expire at 2 a.m. Monday.
Part of the I-90 was closed until 5 p.m. Saturday, and multiple municipalities implemented travel restrictions and overnight parking bans during the winter storm this weekend that dropped several feet of snow on the hardest-hit areas.
Travel advisories are still in effect for much of Erie County, but all travel bans have been lifted.
State of Emergency declared for much of WNY amid storm
See the parking ban updates below:
Town of Cheektowaga: The town has implemented its overnight parking ban (between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. beginning early Saturday). The ban will last until April 1, 2025.
Town of Tonawanda: The town’s ban on overnight parking (between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.) will begin at 2 a.m. on Sunday. The ban goes until March 15, 2025.
This weekend’s storm is the first major lake effect storm of the season. It is possible that some areas, especially in the areas of southern Erie County as well as Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Wyoming counties, will see multiple feet of snow. A Lake Effect Snow Warning began in those areas at 7 a.m. Friday and lasts in some sports until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
No changes were announced for Sunday night’s Buffalo Bills game against the San Francisco 49ers.
