Palm Bay City Council Seat 3 race: Langevin, Agarie will meet in Nov. 5 runoff
The crowded field of six candidates vying for Seat 3 on Palm Bay City Council Seat narrowed to two Tuesday, with top vote-getters Chandler Langevin and Alfy Ramsay Agarie advancing to a runoff in November.
Since no candidate in the six-way race bucked statistical odds and captured more than 50% of the primary vote, the two will meet in a Nov. 5 general election runoff to determine the winner.
Langevin captured 4,567 —26.93 percent of the total 16,957 votes cast — and Agarie, 3,587 votes, 21.15%
The Seat 3 ballot also included Michael Bruyette, Peter Filiberto, David Anthony Kearns and Eileen Sepp.
Palm Bay City Council races are nonpartisan races, and none of the five seats are tied to geography — so all city residents can vote in them.
Palm Bay's Top 2 advance to November election
Last week, council members appointed Philip Weinberg to temporarily fill the Seat 3 vacancy until the winning candidate takes the oath of office in November. He replaced Randy Foster, who resigned in June for health reasons.
Palm Bay council members earn $12,722 per year, and they serve four-year terms. The Palm Bay mayoral and City Council Seat 2 races were also on the primary ballot, with Mayor Rob Medina retaining his seat in a race against a trio of challengers and for Seat 2, incumbent Donny Felix and Richard Mike Hammer moving to a November runoff.
