Olly Murs and wife Amelia announce they're expecting first child
Olly Murs and his wife Amelia have announced that they are expecting their first child.
The couple, who tied the knot in July in a three-day celebration, shared the good news on their Instagram pages. The post featured a photo of Olly in a Christmas jumper, holding up a photo of an ultrasound scan and pointing at Amelia's baby bump.
"Baby Murs due 2024," the caption reads.
Among Olly's famous friends to comment was The Voice UK host Emma Willis, who wrote: "Oh Olly!!! I’m so so happy for you both. Sending you all lots of love."
The X Factor vocal coach Yvie Burnett also commented, writing: "Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh this is soooo wonderful. Congratulations."
This year has seen big changes in Olly's professional life as well as his personal one, as he revealed in September that he won't be returning to The Voice UK after serving as a coach since 2018.
"I'm gutted. I got the call last week to say I won't be back on the show, and it's a bit of a shock, to be honest," he said.
"But I don't want to sit here like other artists might and shine and gloss this up and say, 'It was my decision'. I don't want to do that. Did I want to leave? No. Will I still watch the show? Of course, but it'll be sore thinking that could have been me."
The Voice news followed shortly after it was confirmed that Olly's Stars in Their Eyes-esque singing competition show Starstruck wouldn't be returning after two series.
"Presenting is something I have always loved doing. Starstruck was amazing, but that isn’t coming back," Olly said alongside the cancellation news.
"I am gutted; it is such a great show. In this game, things change so quickly. The ratings did really well but in terms of money and stuff like that, it just didn’t work."
