How old are the Democratic VP contenders?
Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has yet to announce a running mate for the 2024 election, although she's expected to do so in early August.
Based on previous reporting by USA TODAY, Harris is likely considering a handful of Democratic vice presidential candidates, including Andy Beshear, Pete Buttigieg, Roy Cooper, Mark Kelly, J.B. Pritzker, Cedric Richmond, Josh Shapiro, Tim Walz and Gretchen Whitmer.
The issue of age has been at the forefront of the 2024 election cycle as former President Donald Trump, 78, relentlessly taunted President Joe Biden, 81, on age although they're only three years apart. But with Biden's decision to bow out of the race, the Republican nominee is now the oldest presidential nominee in history.
How old are Trump and Harris?
Donald Trump is 78 years old. If re-elected, he would be 82 at the end of his second term. Kamala Harris is 59 years old and will turn 60 on October 20, just weeks before the election.
Ohio Senator JD Vance, the running mate of the former president, is 39 and will celebrate his 40th birthday this Friday, making him the first millennial vice-presidential candidate from a major party.
