Nueces County emergency crews investigate possible gas leak; shelter in place lifted
After a shelter in a place in Robstown was lifted, Nueces County emergency crews continue to investigate a possible gas leak Monday evening.
Monday afternoon, Nueces County Office of Emergency Management advised residents and businesses in the areas of County Road 52 and County Road 69 to shelter in place while a hazmat team worked to locate a possible gas leak.
The city of Corpus Christi issued a shelter in place directive and lifted it later Monday afternoon.
"There might be a gas smell but there are no dangerous readings in the air monitoring instruments," the Nueces County Office of Emergency Management stated in a social media post.
The Corpus Christi Fire Department, Annaville Fire Department and the Bluntzer Fire Department continued to investigate the possible leak in the area of FM 624, Highway 77 East, County Road 50 South and County Road 73 West.
According to a release from the city of Corpus Christi, there are three pipelines in the area and the owners are working with officials to locate the leak. Citizens are asked to avoid the area in the meantime.
