Mommy, Please May I Have a $10,000 Dress?
Paging Blue Ivy Carter, Vida Alves McConaughey, and Emme Maribel Muniz! Your looks for your next red carpet have arrived courtesy of Elie Saab’s latest haute couture show.
In Paris on Wednesday, looks inspired by New York’s energy, hope, magnetism, and intoxicating skyline were shown. Gowns featured round shoulders and voluminous skirts in a color palette of rose, plum, beige, and jasmine, with shades of blue, cobalt, and black “to paint the city landscape against sky.”
And because every New York City woman has a calendar full of galas to attend (and babysitters are sometimes hard to come by for every single event), adult models escorted mini Gigi Hadid wannabes down the runway. With the “moms” wearing elegant gowns with lots of elaborate embellishments, their “daughters” were clad in matching versions with age-appropriate alterations.
For fashion’s elite, Haute Couture Fashion Week isn’t just about being seen at the right show and pictured on the street wearing a chic look; it’s also about spending some serious money — and thank heavens, the privilege can now be extended to their heirs. It seems like Saab is giving his customers exactly what they didn’t know they wanted but must have!
According to a spokesperson, the brand chose to include matching children’s outfits as a nod to their couture clients, as many are excited to outfit their children in Elie Saab Haute Couture. It isn’t a new brand launch, but something that the fashion house has offered its clients for some time.
Matching couture gowns with your mini me might just be the ultimate must-have moment, and judging by the eight mommy/daughter looks that went down the runway, why wouldn’t any rich princess want a gold embroidered tulle gown with feathers, or a rich black velvet and organza dress that has red Swarovski hearts all over it? I mean, if Mommy can have the dress, why can’t I, Daddy?!
A dress fit for a princess — Hollywood or Bollywood, it’s entirely up to the parents!
Splashes of red for the Chinese market perhaps?
