New Mexico looking to get more locals into the transportation industry
SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico is working to make it easier for job seekers to connect with roles within the state’s Department of Transportation. The goal is to get more skilled workers in the state.
To do that, the state’s Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS) and the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be working together for the next four years to help connect locals to the Industry Credential Pipeline Program. NMDOT will connect with high school and postsecondary students and DWS will help determine support and wraparound services for those looking to enter the transportation industry.

“The Industry Credential Pipeline Program will strengthen New Mexico’s transportation labor force, create sustainable career pathways, and ensure a skilled workforce for NMDOT’s future,” NMDOT Cabinet Secretary Ricky Serna said in a press release.
The program is aimed at filling a wide range of jobs within the transportation industry, from commercial drivers to planning and engineering. More information on job positions at NMDOT can be found at this link.
