Mandatory evacuation, curfew issued for Zone 1 of Terrebonne Parish
TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government has issued a mandatory evacuation for residents in Zone 1 of the parish.
The declaration is effective immediately.
Residents must be out by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
On Tuesday, Terrebonne Parish officials announced a storm shelter will open on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Municipal Auditorium at 880 Verret Street. The shelter will open at 6 a.m. and residents are asked to bring the following items:
State driver’s license or identification card
Bedding
Personal hygiene products
Medication
Baby formula, diapers and wipes
Power strips and phone chargers
Food and water to last three days
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office announced there will be a mandatory curfew for the parish’s Zone 1 starting at 7 p.m.
TPSO officials said these areas include:
South of Pointe-Aux-Chenes Floodgate
South of Bayou Terrebonne Floodgate in Lower Montegut
Isle de Jean Charles
South of Bayou Petite Caillou Floodgate including Cocodrie
South of levee road ramp on Four Point Road in Lower Dulac
South of Lower Dularge Floodgate
According to the TPSO, “a mandatory parish wide curfew will also be in effect in the near future.”
