Man stopped with machete and knives at Hopkins Airport: I-Team
CLEVELAN (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team has learned Cleveland police took man into custody at Hopkins Airport with a machete, two knives and more.
It happened just after 4 a.m. Monday in the ticketing area.
The I-Team got an alarmed email from a family witnessing what happened, so we investigated. We’ve learned officers, first, questioned the man about the machete, and then he threatened police.
They tried to subdue him with a taser, but we’ve learned the man took off, even jumping over counters and running through the airport.
Officers finally took him into custody.

We’ve reached out to Cleveland police for more details.
The Transportation Security Administration referred us back to police.
The airport released a statement:
“We are aware of an incident involving a disruptive individual within the airport premises this morning. The individual was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. Airport operations were not affected by this incident. As this is an active investigation, any additional questions should be directed to the Cleveland Police Department.”
