Man found guilty of rape after assaulting child less than 13

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Mississippi man formerly of Tonawanda was found guilty by a jury of rape after he assaulted a child under 13 years old in Tonawanda and Williamsville, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Robert Roy, 42, allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a child multiple times between on or about January 2012 and August 2019. The victim was known to the defendant.
Roy was found guilty of second-degree rape, two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, and second-degree criminal sexual act.
A temporary order of protection remains in effect for the victim.
Roy remains held without bail. He faces a maximum sentence of 64 years to life in prison and is expected to be sentenced March 31.
