Lockport man admits to selling fentanyl following death of child
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Lockport man pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl after a child died surrounded by pills in 2022, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
Javonte Holloway, 23, sold large quantities of fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl and heroin in the form of counterfeit hydrocodone pills known as “M-30s” in the Lockport area.
A Lockport couple who had a small child regularly purchased the pills from Holloway between July and December 2022, officials said. On Dec. 2, the toddler was found unresponsive in a bedroom surrounded by fentanyl residue and four blue pills marked “M” and “30.”
The child was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. In February 2023, 27 “M-30” pills were seized from Holloway’s residence.
Holloway pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, acetyl fentanyl and fentanyl, which carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 10.
