Local burger joint Vertigo, off Apalachee Parkway, suddenly shutters after 13 years
After 13 years, one of Tallahassee's destination burger joints has suddenly shuttered, leaving many distraught on social media over the news.
Vertigo Burger and Fries on East Lafayette Street, a casual restaurant that specialized in burgers with a Southern twist and local craft beers, shocked patrons with a Facebook announcement saying its final thank you and goodbye.
The Monday afternoon post already has generated a massive amount of attention with over 250 reactions in an hour.
Customers shared in the comment section of the post that they wanted to indulge in a last supper at the burger spot. But, according to Google listings, this was the burger restaurant's final weekend of service and the doors are officially closed for good.
Others shared memories of birthday parties, first dates and wedding events Vertigo helped make possible. One Facebook user commented: "Wow. Another great gem gone."
This is the second Vertigo Burger and Fries location to permanently close after the closure of its first location on Market Street in 2017.
The menu included a number of popular hand-crafted specialty burger creations, fries, sides, shakes and dietary restriction offerings.
Vertigo owners David and Elizabeth Gwynn also operated Cypress Restaurant and Grove Market Café, also both closed. They could not be immediately reached Monday afternoon.
