Kylie Minogue reveals she went to 'dark places' but turned to her family
The singer said it's hard to 'shut yourself off from voices, critics, and your own thoughts'.
Kylie Minogue told how she has sometimes gone to “dark places” as she admitted it can be tough to shut out the critics.
The star, 55, is no stranger to the spotlight, having found fame as Charlene in Aussie soap Neighbours in the 80s before going on to a pop career that’s lasted more than 35 years.
However, during on an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, she hinted that it hasn’t all been plain-sailing.

Discussing what she would say to her younger self, Minogue said: “I get quite emotional when I think about letting her know that she is not alone and what she is thinking is OK because it’s not all ‘water off a duck’s back'."
“I did sometimes end up in dark places, but I turned to my family," added the singer, who battled breast cancer in 2005.
“I don’t know how different it would be if it was today with social media – it is very hard to shut yourself off from voices, critics, and your own thoughts.”
The Padam Padam singer lived in the UK for many years.
But in 2021 it was reported that she had decided to return to her native Australia.
She is thought to have headed home in 2022, and earlier this year performed with her sister Dannii Minogue at the Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert.
“It is great being back with my family, and performing with Dannii was one of those ‘unicorn moments’,” she told host Graham Norton.
