Kourtney Kardashian Wore a Chanel Fanny Pack to Disney World
Call your mom and tell her fanny packs are back in — at least for Kourtney Kardashian. And Chanel too, as the brand designed the white fanny pack Kardashian wore to Disney World, according to InStyle.
The eldest Kardashian — and mom of Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick — posed proudly, hand on hip, with none other than Mickey Mouse while rocking the accessory that was an around-the-waist sensation sometime in the ’80s (we’ve been trying to forget). “Kourtney World Tour most recent stop @waltdisneyworld,” the 37-year-old captioned the photo, which she shared on Instagram.
The style maven wore the designer bag — displaying the brand’s iconic quilted pattern — with casual denim cutoffs, a white tee, and black sneakers. Kardashian is known as a die-hard Disney fan, taking her brood to the Magic Kingdom as often as possible.
On the online consignment shop the Real Real, the “Chanel Diamond Stitch Waist Pack,” as it’s officially called, is selling for $925. But the lambskin purse, with its trademark gold Chanel logo, originally retailed for a whopping $1,800 (it’s a few seasons old), according to the site. It’s described as having “gold-tone hardware, logo at front flap, tonal stitching, single leather and chain-link waist belt with buckle closure, black leather lining, single pocket with zip closure at interior wall and turn-lock closure at front flap.”
Fanny packs may have gotten a bad rap over the years, but as recently as last year, we caught celebs trying to bring the dowdy style back. Glam stars like Kate Hudson, Fergie, and Sarah Jessica Parker were photographed in Chanel versions, while Jared Leto sold the style by wearing his while shirtless.
And if you think about it, chasing three kids around Disney World while being a style icon hunted down by the paparazzi can’t be easy. A hands- and shoulder-free fanny pack by a respected fashion house like Chanel seems like the perfect compromise.
