Joe Biden inauguration: How to watch with friends and family on Yahoo
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be sworn into office on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at noon ET at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Yahoo News will host special coverage of the event beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
Themed “America United,” the 59th inaugural celebration will feature a virtual parade and a military escort to the White House.
Lady Gaga, who campaigned for Biden, will sing the national anthem, and Jennifer Lopez will give a musical performance. Leo J. O’Donovan, a Jesuit priest and longtime friend of Biden’s family, will deliver opening remarks. Andrea Hall, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3920, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance; Amanda Gorman, the first-ever national youth poet laureate, will give a poetry reading; and the Rev. Dr. Silvester Beaman will give a closing benediction. Chief Justice John Roberts will administer Biden’s oath of office.
The event will be scaled back and have much smaller crowds than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic and security concerns following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
