Jefferson Parish deputies investigate fatal deputy-involved shooting in Marrero
MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — Officials with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating fatal deputy-involved shooting that happened in Marrero on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The JPSO reported that the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was attempting to arrest a man who was reportedly wanted out of New Orleans on charges of second-degree battery, battery on a dating partner, theft, home invasion, violation of protective order and simple battery at a home in the 5500 block of Hamerick Drive around 6:30 a.m.

JPSO officials said the man then barricaded himself inside the home, and the JPSO crisis management unit responded to the scene.
According to deputies, the suspect was found to be armed with at least two guns.

JPSO officials said the man came out of the house armed around 11 a.m. That’s when deputies say he raised his firearm.
Two deputies then reportedly fired their weapons, hitting the man at least once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
