Jamie Lee Curtis donates $1M to LA fire victims, Mandy Moore's home 'not livable'

Los Angeles has been devastated by wildfires ripping through Southern California and causing chaos, damage and destruction. Among those affected are Billy Crystal, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton and more of Hollywood's celebrity class, who lost their homes or were forced to evacuate.
As of Friday, firefighters are continuing to battle back against multiple deadly wildfires as everyday Californians and celebrities alike flee their homes. The fires have left at least 10 dead.
At least five fires are active in LA County, scorching about 55 square miles across the region, according to Cal Fire. The Palisades Fire in the coastal Pacific Palisades community, which ranks as the most destructive in LA history, remained the largest blaze with 6% containment.

Britney Spears speaks out about evacuating home: 'I had to'
Britney Spears took to Instagram to announce she'd evacuated her home as the Kenneth Fire broke out Thursday near Woodland Hills, located in northwest Los Angeles County. The blaze threatened residents in surrounding communities that include celebrity enclaves such as Hidden Hills and Calabasas.
"I hope you are all doing OK !!! I had to evacuate my home and I’m driving 4 hours to a hotel !!! I’m posting these adorable shoes to lift people’s spirits !!! Most people may not even be on their phones !!!" she wrote in an Instagram caption Thursday.
Spears continued, writing that "I wasn’t (on the phone) the past two days because I had no electricity to charge and I just got my phone back !!! I pray you’re all doing well and I send my love ?? !!!"

Keleigh Teller opens up about leaving home: 'We will come back stronger'
Keleigh Teller, the model and wife of actor Miles Teller, wrote on Instagram saying that she "snapped this driving out" of the family's home.
"To everyone reaching out I can’t thank you enough, your kind hearts have meant the world, I’ll never forget them. Community has come out stronger than I could imagine, pacific palisades I love you beyond measure you are a little slice of heaven, we will come back stronger than ever," she wrote in an Instagram caption.
She continued: "If you’re in the LA area PLEASE get out if you can. I wish I grabbed my wedding dress .. wish I did a lot different but it doesn’t matter, stay safe, get out. ???????? there are no words. THANK YOU to the first responders fighting."
Sebastian Harrison hides behind boulders to escape fires, Jennie Garth flees to ex's home
After Italian actor Sebastian Harrison evacuated from his home, he returned prematurely to find the fires closing in. In video he shared with CNN this week, he is seen hiding behind boulders on the edge of the ocean to escape the flames.
Harrison said he considered trying to put out some of the flames near him and his father's home in Malibu when a "whole hurricane of embers" headed toward him. He then noticed fire trucks leaving, and he couldn't get his car to star. So he headed toward the ocean.
"I couldn't see because there was embers and smoke and clouds and flying debris," he said. "I fell down, hurt myself a little bit, but I was eventually able to hide behind some boulders."
"Vanderpump Rules" star Lala Kent wrote on her Instagram story that she was evacuating to Palm Springs, California, because her 4-month-old daughter, Sosa, was "struggling to breathe."
She said her family hasn't been directly affected but "it's hard because of what I'm seeing other people go through."
"In times like this all you want is to go home for comfort, and 1,000s of people don't have their safe place anymore. There are looters, lack of water, and lack of preparation. I'm sad, but I'm angry..." she said. "I'll save that rant for a later date."
"Beverly Hills, 90210" star Jennie Garth took to social media to alert her followers that she was safe. In the caption of an emotional Instagram video on Thursday, she told followers she evacuated to the home of her second husband, Peter Facinelli, whose family "took us in and have been so kind." Garth is currently married to Dave Abrams.
She said her family's home was "spared," but there was "so much to clean up" in LA.
"Just keep everyone here who is suffering in your heart and prayers," she said. "this will effect people differently, so reach out, and offer to help, it really does mean so much."
Tina Knowles says her Malibu bungalow was destroyed in fire
Tina Knowles shared a video on Instagram of her Malibu bungalow and shared it had been destroyed. "It was my favorite place, my sanctuary, my sacred Happy Place," she wrote. "Now it is gone !!"
Knowles applauded "all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions," adding, "I am praying diligently for our beautiful City of Los Angeles !! We are resilient though and we will recover!"
She added, "To the people who lost their homes and belongings , I can only imagine how it feels to lose properties and everything you own ! My heart and deep prayers go out to all of you ??I cannot imagine the pain and suffering and fear that you are enduring.. I am praying diligently for our beautiful City of Los Angeles !! We are resilient though and we will recover!"
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan address fires
In a statement on their website, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan addressed the fact that "wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex provided followers with a list of ways they can help, including by donating clothing, children's toys, and other essentials to those who "have been left with nothing."
"If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do," Harry and Meghan also said. "And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating."
Marianne Jean-Baptiste says daughter is OK following LA wildfires evacuation
During a Thursday interview with USA TODAY, Oscar-nominated actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste shared a personal update after her daughter was forced to evacuate during the raging LA wildfires. The "Hard Truths" star previously expressed concern for her daughter while attending the 90th New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
"She evacuated last night with our two dogs, but then she went back this morning, and the house was fine and everything was good," Jean-Baptiste said. "One of my friends lost her house — it's very sobering, all this stuff. You just go, 'Jesus, that's why you've got to enjoy life. You really do.' "

Jennifer Hudson 'devastated,' Brooke Shields' 'heart is breaking'
Jennifer Hudson said on Instagram she was "devastated and heartbroken" about the fires and directed followers toward organizations they can donate to. "Pray for LA!!!" she wrote.
In an Instagram video, Mayim Bialik, speaking to followers while bundled up in a coat and hat, said she is without power but that her "immediate family and pets" are OK. "Everybody stay safe," she added.
Brooke Shields said her "heart is breaking" for Los Angeles, while Marlon Wayans wrote, "To all my friends that have lost their homes I am saddened yet happy that you have your LIVES. These things are replaceable but life is not."
Mandy Moore says 'main part' of her house is 'miraculously' still standing
After saying that she was unsure if her home would make it, Mandy Moore shared Thursday, "Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now." She said the house is "not livable but mostly intact."
But Moore told followers she and her husband, musician Taylor Goldsmith, lost their garage and back house, as well as Goldsmith's studio, which had all of his instruments and equipment in it.
But the "This Is Us" star said "everyone we know lost everything" and "every house on our street is gone," so she feels "weird survivors guilt."
Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis to donate $1 million to LA fire recovery
Curtis announced a $1 million gift to those impacted by the LA fires Thursday in an Instagram post.
"As the fire still rages on and @calfire @losangelesfiredepartment and all the available first responders and agencies involved in fighting fire and saving lives are still hard at work and neighbors and friends are banding together to save each other, my husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million from our Family Foundation to start a fund of support for our great city and state and the great people who live and love there," she wrote.
Curtis continued, writing that she is "in communication with Governor (Gavin) Newsom and Mayor (Karen) Bass and Senator (Adam) Schiff as to where those funds need to be directed for the most impact."

Curtis previously got emotional during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" Wednesday about the blazes near her home.
"As you know, where I live is on fire right now. The entire city of Pacific Palisades is burning," she told host Jimmy Fallon. "I flew here last night, I was on the plane, started getting texts and it's … gnarly, you guys. It's just a catastrophe in Southern California."
Curtis teared up describing the devastation. "Many, many, many friends now have lost their homes," she said, "So it’s a really awful situation."
Cameron Mathison tells 'GMA' he 'lost my home and everything'
"All My Children" star Cameron Mathison's house was destroyed in the blaze, and he wrote in a lengthy Instagram post that though "we are safe," that "this is what's left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday."
He told "Good Morning America" that he lost his home in the Altadena area, adding that he only has a few items and some clothing.

"I've been up all night. I can't sleep," Mathison told "GMA" Thursday. "I've lost my home and everything that I own. I have this hoodie and a pair of pants and two pairs of sneakers left. That's it."
Mathison said: "Thanks to all who reached out and checked in. Can’t respond to all so wanted to give an update here." "Sending so many prayers to everyone being affected by these fires????" he continued.
Mandy Moore, Mark Hamill evacuate homes: 'We were fleeing for our lives'
In an Instagram story, Moore said she was "evacuated and safe" with her kids, dogs and cats. The "This is Us" star added that she "had a place to land" due to the "kindness of friends."
"Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel," she wrote. "Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don't know if our place made it."
Paris Hilton 'heartbroken' after Malibu home burns 'to the ground on live TV'
After previously staying in place and avoiding evacuations in last month's Malibu wildfires, Mark Hamill also shared on Instagram that he evacuated Malibu "so last-minute" that there were "small fires on both sides of the road as we approached" the Pacific Coast Highway.
After correcting a missing word in his post, the "Star Wars" actor wrote, "Gimme a break — we were fleeing for our lives."

"That is the end of everything that belonged to my family and the history of it," Rivers told Collins.

"I grabbed my mom's Emmy, a photo of my dad and a drawing my mother had done of me and my son. I went for a drawing of hers, rather than a photo. I know I can find the photos, but a drawing I can't replace," she added.
