Ikon Pass Access Will Be "Unchanged" at Arapahoe Basin Next Season
When the news broke that Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, Colorado was being purchased by Alterra Mountain Company late last year, a question rose to the forefront of nearly every skier's mind- 'Does this mean Ikon Pass holders will have unlimited access to A-Basin?'
Arapahoe Basin officials have avoided answering the question directly, until now. POWDER has learned via email correspondence that Ikon Pass holders' access to Arapahoe Basin will not increase next season.
An Arapahoe Basin official confirmed the decision on June 25th, 2024:
"For the 2024-25 season, Ikon pass access will remain unchanged to Arapahoe Basin with 5 days on the base pass or 7 days on the Full Ikon Pass."
The immediate concern regarding unlimited access to Arapahoe Basin for Ikon Pass holders was an over-crowding of the resort. It seems, at least for next season, that shouldn't be an issue for the Arapahoe Basin faithful.
The decision is being celebrated in the comments section:
Dave Amirault (@ozskier): "This is the way"
Jason E (via Facebook): "THANK YOU!"
Arapahoe Basin also confirmed that Parking Reservations will be required next season to curb over-crowding during Holidays and Weekends. Here are the full details:
The reservation system will be effective from mid-December 2024 through early May 2025.
Reservations are only required on weekends and holidays.
A general parking reservation will cost $20/car in Early Riser, High Noon, Last Chance, and Upper Last Chance.
Admin lot will be premium parking for $40. A season parking pass does not cover admin
Parking will not require a reservation after 1 p.m. on weekends and holidays and will remain free during weekdays.
We will offer a limited number of $150 parking passes, covering general parking costs all season to 24/25 A-Basin Season Pass Holders.
Vehicles with four or more people are still required to have a reservation, but the reservation is free.
You will have to make your general parking reservation online in advance.
Parking Passes will go on sale July 9 at 10 am.
Of these new parking policies, it's important to note that cars with four or more passengers can obtain a free parking reservation. Arapahoe Basin has been encouraging carpooling for years, and is doubling down on that policy.
Arapahoe Basin skiers are expressing that while they are thankful Ikon Pass holders won't have unlimited access to the ski area, they're disappointed that they will have to pay for parking reservations on Holidays and weekends.
