Iceland volcano near Reykjavik erupts for 10th time in 3 years: See photos of aftermath

A volcano near Iceland's capital Reykjavik in the country's southwestern region erupted for the tenth time in three years on Wednesday, local authorities reported.
The country's meteorological office said there were no disruptions to air traffic or infrastructure.
The eruption began at 11:14 p.m. local time, and as of Thursday was ongoing, the office reported.
It took place east of the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa resort in Svartsengi, which evacuated guests and closed for safety measures, according to public broadcaster RUV.
"Lava crossed the Grindavík road around 4:30 this morning," the office reported online. "Shortly before 8:00 (a.m.), the lava front also reached the hot water pipeline, the Njarevík Line."

Aerial video shows the Icelandic volcano erupting, spewing bright orange and yellow lava into the sky and hitting the ground flowing south.
Authorities had warned of volcanic activity as magma accumulated beneath the peninsula, about 20 miles southwest of Reykjavik, Reuters reported. The most recent eruption there ended on Sept. 6, the outlet reported.
The meteorological office said there had been no noticeable increase in seismic activity over the past few weeks.
