Hundreds fill city park for annual Independence Day celebration
CAMBRIDGE ? The City of Cambridge Parks Department held its annual Boom-A-Rama on Tuesday, lighting up the sky over the city park to the delight of the crowd.
Families and friends filled the park throughout the day, enjoying the weather and checking out the activities. Children's games, a visit from Marshall the fire pup, and an evening swim at the city pool kept crowd engaged before the fireworks filled the sky, and the Cambridge City Band performed a concert under the big pavilion.
Various food trucks and vendors lined the park's drives to keep everyone satisfied. Eve's Daiquiri's, Kona Ice and local favorite Rock Dawgs were on-site, along with vendors selling fresh lemonade, Boom-A-Rama T-shirts and cotton candy.
As in years past, the soundtrack for the day and fireworks show was handled by AVC Communications. Geno Riley and Jon Clark kept the hits coming as they spoke with Mayor Tom Orr and others. The sky lit up to a dazzling display as hits like "I"m Proud to be an American" and "Coming to America" rang out over the speakers.
Members of the Cambridge Police and Fire departments were on hand throughout the evening, keeping the peace and connecting with the crowd.
