Huddle for Hunger 2024: How to get involved
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Huddle for Hunger’s community food drive takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 17. News 4 is proud to once again partner with the Buffalo Bills Foundation, FeedMore WNY and Wegmans on the campaign.
Huddle for Hunger is a multifaceted event that focuses on addressing child hunger, increasing access to nutritious food, and supporting healthy eating across our region. Here’s how you can get involved.
Huddle for Hunger’s community food drive
This event runs from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. Nonperishable food items will be collected at the stadium so that FeedMore WNY can distribute them throughout the community. Some Bills players will be involved in the event.
Anyone who donates in person can enter to win four tickets to the Bills’ Monday night vs. Jacksonville on Sept. 23.
FeedMore has published a list of its most-requested items for donation. Items they highlighted at last year’s event include:
Peanut butter (16 ounce plastic jars)
Macaroni and cheese (6 ounce box)
Oatmeal (individual sized packets)
Tomato sauce (15 ounce cans, low sodium)
Canned vegetables (15 ounce cans, any variety, low sodium)
Canned fruits (15 ounce cans, any variety, canned in juice or water)
Canned chicken or tuna (5 ounce cans, canned in water)
Whole wheat pasta (whole wheat pasta, rice)
Baby food
Diapers
Those making donations are asked to enter Lot 2 from Abbott Road (image below).
Wegmans tailgate box, 50/50 raffle
Planning a get-together for the Monday Night Football game? Wegmans is offering a Tailgate Party Box that includes 12 angus beef burgers, four Greek-style turkey burgers, three lemon garlic chicken cutlets and three Buffalo-style chicken cutlets for $59.99. $10 of every Tailgate Party Box sold through Sept. 23 will be donated to the cause, up to $50,000. The game will be televised locally on WIVB.
Additionally, at the Bills-Jaguars MNF game, the net charitable proceeds generated from the 50/50 raffle will go toward this cause.
